Major Earthquake Strikes off Indonesian Coast

NPR: "A powerful earthquake hits off the west coast of Indonesia's Sumatra Island. The U.S. Geological Survey says the temblor was a major quake measuring 8.7 -- likely an aftershock of the Dec. 26 earthquake that killed more than 174,000 people. Initially, USGS put the magnitude at 8.2. Officials warn of a possible tsunami. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or damage in the region."

Now the update is saying thousands dead and hundreds still missing...
